Van Ventures

Hello folks! In the hunt for the perfect vehicle our sights went to Pennsylvania. On monday we took a trip to Malvern, PA to follow up on two leads of possible rides. One was a van that had been sitting in my uncle's barn for a few years and the other a mini school bus retiring as a music festival/church bus. It was a beautiful day, but a little overwhelming with all the work we had to do. The first task was to clear a path to push the van out of the barn. After inflating a tire and shifting the gear we rolled it out to inspect it. It definitely needed work, but we suspected it could get out on the road. Unfortunately, our timeline wasn't giving us enough days to make this a viable option. The rest of our time there was spent photographing the property thanks to the tour by my cousin, David.

Shows and shopping

12 more days until our van hits the road, so now's the time to stockpile our battery of supplies. Yesterday we purchased some 80-odd brushes, a gallon of gesso, sheets of watercolor paper, and various other supplies. Thanks to Blick art supplies and our friend Waylon's 30% discount coupon! We also put the order in for our 2 Flipcams to film the excursion as well as an image projector.

This Tuesday (the 28th) Eric will be in a group show at 320 Studios at 320 w. 37th street, 5:30pm to 11:30pm. The show is titled "Town and Country" and will be up until the 30th.

Also, Eric is showing on Saturday, July 2nd at Matchless bar in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. There is a burlesque show as well as artwork from many brooklyn artists to celebrate the July 4th weekend in Brooklyn and the famous mermaid parade that happens in Coney Island. Nautical and water pieces will
be shown - performance starts at 9pm. Come on out if you are in the area!

Back in the workshop

Woof. What a long day. But there will be many more to come. We hit the ground running and thanks to the help of Waylon Tait, we now have created 10 30"x 40" stretchers, 8 18" x 22" stretchers, 20 9" x 22" birch panels, and 4 16" x 22" birch panels. As well as a handful of 4" x 6" scrap birch for us to sketch on. Well worth the 14 hours.

Got Wood

22 panels, 18 stretcher frames waiting to be built.

Tomorrow will be a long day.

Successful!

We're finally done! And we raised $641 over our intilial goal. Thanks to everyone for your support. We couldn't have done it without you.

July 6th is looking like the date for our departure and there is much work to be done.

Stay tuned.
